Chasing the Past

Our Ancestors (Morris, Smith, Jones, Robertson)

The Good and the Bad

In circling back to research the Smiths of Carroll County, I came across information regarding Thomas Johnson in a Chancery Court case file Nathan Cawthon et als vs Henry Kirk et als.

The good is that it proves the connection between Nathan and Susan and Thomas Johnson. I thought Susan was perhaps Thomas’ sister. But this record shows she was his daughter.

This is really good. It also names the rest of his children and heirs at law and ties in Henry and Martha Kirk, among others.

The bad is the children I have attributed to Nancy are completely wrong. There are at least two Nancy Johnson’s in Carroll County, TN. The children I have are from a completely different core family (likely related) and I have a new set of children to research.

So it’s time to start over with Nancy, Thomas, and family.
